STEM 'Science Day' brings students to Dimensions of Biodiversity lab

Led by Susan Furr, a víagra pastillas STEM teacher and DoB outreach assistant, 12 junior scientists from the STEM Club at Flowing Wells Junior High School participated in a half-day workshop in the Arnold lab focusing on fungal biodiversity. With assistance from co-teacher Karen Daly, workshop leadership by Ph.D. candidates Mary Jane Epps and Mariana del Olmo Ruiz (www.arnoldlab.net), and participation (and pizza!) from Betsy, this diverse group of young scientists learned about biodiversity field surveys, isolated fungi, used microscopes to examine plant tissue, and followed the process of fungal molecular systematics from start to finish with hands-on stations and activities designed by Susan. Thank you to the STEM junior scientists and DoB team for such a great day!
