DOB Bio: I am a summer intern from the University of Texas - Pan-American. My past research focuses on interactions between plants and heavy metals such as arsenic. I worked in the Arnold lab for two summers to study the effects of endophytes and endohyphal bacteria on plants' capacity to exploit extreme environments. As a Summer Research Institute intern I also gained experience in preparing for the GRE, taking coursework in scientific writing, and learning a wide array of new skills in microbiology, mycology, and molecular biology.
