Alexandros Stamatakis

Alexandros Stamatakis is the group leader of the Scientific Computing Group at the Heildeberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (http://www.h-its.org/) in Heidelberg, Germany. Alexis is the main author of the phylogenetic inference package RAxML. His main research focus is on algorithms and parallel computing for evolutionary Bioinformatics. With his PhD student Simon Berger, he recently started to work on phylogenetic placement (and simultaneous tree-aware alignment) of short reads.
